Join LifePath as we celebrate our 50th Anniversary
with a year full of celebrations!
LifePath, formerly the Community Foundation for Human Development, was started in 1974 by a group of parents from the Pennridge area who wanted more individualized care for their special needs children. LifePath’s dedicated pediatric facility, Ridge Crest, was opened in Sellersville as a place where medically-fragile and technology-dependent children and their families could find the help they needed. Soon after, residential housing was established for adults with developmental disabilities as the transition from institutionalization to community-based supports continued. LifePath’s programs and services revolved around one common theme — to provide individuals with the highest quality care possible in an environment of unconditional love, respect and dignity.
From 1987 through 1993, LifePath continued to grow. We established an adult day program, vocational services program, intensive supports program and a laundry training program. These programs work with the existing skills and level of ability of each individual to help give these special individuals a sense of accomplishment, confidence, self-worth and independence.
In the mid-1990s, LifePath obtained a license as a community mental health center and opened additional services in the Bucks and Delaware counties. These services were met with overwhelming enthusiasm and resulted in the addition of adults with autism to LifePath’s adult day programs.
In 1996 the LifePath name was adopted to better reflect our growing organization.
The 21st century brought more changes and programs to LifePath with the introduction of Home and Community Habilitation, LifeSharing and our Technology Learning Center.
Recent years have brought changes and innovation to LifePath, as we continue to constantly evaluate the services we provide, striving to provide the best possible care in new and exciting ways, and to meet the ever changing needs of the individuals we serve. We continue to embrace new technology and advancements, customize programs to individual needs, and work to provide new services while maintaining the highest quality of care.
Our Mission of Compassionate Care with Dignity and Respect has been at the core of what we do for 50 years, and we look forward to carrying on this legacy for the next 50 years.
